You Never Walk Alone
©2005 Elizabeth L. Clark
How many of you look out into the night and feel you walk this life alone? Feeling as if you have no one to support you, no one to give you strength and comfort. You bow your heads and weep, sending plaintive pleas out on the wind, begging for an end to your loneliness. You wail out your angst, live in darkness, huddled next to the cold comfort of a world of assumptions and lies.
We walk with you every second of every day. Earth supports you, dark rich soil memorizing your every step. Water comforts you, lapping at your ankles, misting over fevered brows. Air wraps you in soft caresses and helps you along with strong gusts at your back. Fire warms you, its flickering light mesmerizing, letting your mind open to see outside your mortal world.
The sky holds many eyes, watching, hands poised to catch you when you truly need it. We laugh with you, weep with you and rejoice when you triumph over the hurdles we set before you. We grant you wisdom, compassion, the ability to love and creativity to use so that you might share your inner visions with others.
We are with you from cradle to grave and beyond. We are forever with you, so you see my children... you never walk alone.
